History Around Us

History leaves us reminders of past times. We can listen to older people who have been around a while and remember what life was like long ago. Maybe we are so old we can remember the olden days, and we can write it down for others. Buildings remain to show us how families lived. Grand buildings like churches, town halls and Masonic temples show the pretensions of communities to impress the world with their importance. Museums of artefacts, vehicles, furniture and clothing give us objects to show young people how things were in the past. Photographs show places and people from old times.
All these things are worth preserving in the rush to redevelop and knock down.
